How does being in the flow compare to the feeling of pressure?
There are some good forms of pressure for sure, but in this somewhat humorous article I’ll address the types of pressure that are both exhausting and unnecessary!
Okay…here we go…
It has been awhile since I’ve shared an article.
This is for two reasons.
1. I’ve been going through more personal changes and
2. I refuse to write an article that isn’t completely from my heart. That is just not something I can force.
I know I have a lot to say and insights that can be supportive, but if I do it just to do it I know in my heart no one will read it! Or at least they probably won’t enjoy it to much.
When I put my full self into something people notice. Even if they don’t know what it is they can feel there’s a difference.
Even though I’m an extremely action oriented person I’m not one who operates well from a place of “have too” or “pressure”. I operate well in the flow, I personally need to feel energized by what I’m doing. That’s when I know it’s in alignment with my highest good.
However, I’ve learned to not feed into the pressure (too much, wink wink). I may feel it, but I also know when it doesn’t feel good.
So I use the feeling of pressure as an indicator that it’s time to make a change. Time to take a step back and evaluate where I’m headed. It’s a perfect way to make adjustments so that I can accomplish my goals in a healthy harmonious way. Instead of feeling tired and resentful.
Pressure and have too’s are exhausting!
Yes, there are some things in life that we probably "have to do" if we want to live a certain way. But you don’t necessarily have to do your “have to’s” a certain way! 🙂
Maybe you can find a way to do them that feels better for you!
Imagine two people. Both “have to” out of a free choice, wake up in the morning and at some point they “have to” brush their teeth.. this is if they don’t want to bless someone else’s day with a bout of bad breath!
So by choice of sparing their partners or neighbors of the smell they opt to brush "dem" teeth!
But this doesn’t mean they have to brush them the same way!
Imagine they both dread the act of brushing their teeth.
Maybe Sally decides she likes to just do it in the shower as part of her routine, but maybe Jim likes to dance around to some 80’s while he brushes his.
Does it really matter how it gets done? As long as it gets done and we’re all happy with the minty fresh smell I don’t think we really care!
Now you might care if Sally or Jim opt out of the brushing and head straight to your desk with morning coffee breath in tow!
But if you get the minty good mornin'... you probably don’t care one bit how it happened!
Can I get an amen?!
The entire point of this is that sometimes we do “have to” do things, but there’s still a choice. I could choose not to brush my teeth and at the same time I would probably be choosing a few less friends, not to mention coaching clients!
So I choose to take the time and brush my teeth each day, in the shower, while singing 80's songs.
I also have a choice about the type of articles I write for you!
I could have chosen to write something quickly. It probably would have been pretty decent, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
When I write these I want to be fully present in the moment with you, to give it my full attention. You should get to read an article that you enjoy, maybe even get a little giggle out of.🤭
The last thing you need to feel from my articles is that I was in a rush to throw something together just to get some SEO. That’s search engine optimization for those of you who don’t know.
I suppose the rebel in me just refuses to allow my business to be defined by some computer algorithms. But this is me, that strategy works for a lot of people and I respect the heck out of it. It just does flow for me and I have to do what feels great for me. I believe...if what I write is helpful to you then you’ll find my articles!
Yes, I have to actually write them, and when they flow I will!
But other then that know if you get a lull from me, it’s not because I’ve disappeared.
It’s because I've learned to allow the freedom of flow.
This doesn’t mean I was sitting around just eating bonbons!
I was actually creating another business, helping a few family members, completing my mothers final wishes, raising a puppy, and enjoying a little sunshine now and again!
You see I choose not to feed into more pressure to get you an article because SEO says so. I choose to follow my flow and my heart so you can actually experience an enjoyable note instead of something half-hearted.
All of this ties in with learning to trust your intuition.
Let go of the unnecessary pressure. Focus on what feels good in your heart.
Live your life your way!
YES, you can do all of this by respecting and honoring others!
When something doesn’t feel right, that’s because it’s not!

Observe what feels good and what doesn’t.
Notice how your physical body communicates this to you.
Notice how your emotional body responds.
Pay attention to how things feel to your heart and soul.
Then follow the things that feel great, one step at a time!
